Inside SL-1210MKX

What is actually new

Technics describes the SL-1210MKX as a new flagship above the SL-1210MK7, engineered for club and touring environments. The headline changes are a significantly heavier, balanced chassis, newly designed isolation feet, a quieter reset switch and a revised pitch system. It keeps the coreless direct-drive motor with adjustable start-up torque and brake speed.

The pitch range is the story

For the first time in the SL-1200 series there is a dedicated ±4 percent range, alongside a new ±50 percent setting. Those two numbers describe two different jobs: ±4 gives the fine resolution that beatmatching at the top of a mix really needs, while ±50 turns the deck into an instrument for pitching records far outside their original tempo.

Built for the room, not the shelf

Heavier mass and new feet are not cosmetic on a turntable that lives next to a sub. Feedback and vibration are the practical enemy in a club booth, and this is where a flagship earns its price. The MKX also adds 78 rpm playback and reverse playback, which widen what a DJ can do with a record beyond house and techno tempos.

When you can buy one

Technics says the SL-1210MKX will be available from January 2027 at selected retailers. The official announcement does not disclose a price. Treat any figure circulating before then as a retailer estimate rather than a confirmed number.
