Tbilisiu2019s Mtkvarze has announced that its home is at risk after the building was sold. The team said the transaction took place without its knowledge and warned that only a small number of nights remain. No definite final closing date has been announced.

Founded in 2012, the venue grew into a vital part of Georgiau2019s club ecosystem before several of the cityu2019s better-known contemporary institutions opened. It operates from a former fish restaurant, a detail that speaks to the reuse of unusual urban spaces at the heart of independent nightlife.

The announcement lands as Mtkvarze marks its fourteenth anniversary with a long-format gathering on 23 October. The team has indicated that its story may continue beyond this address, although no replacement site or reopening timetable has been confirmed.

For a city whose international music identity has been built through community-led spaces, the question is bigger than one lease. A club can relocate its equipment, but the trust, routines and local relationships built around a room are harder to reproduce. What happens next will matter well beyond the dancefloor.
